After Katrina, Many Children,
Families, Caregivers Urgently Need Mental Health Care
SEPT. 14, 2005 | Early care and education providers on the front
line of Hurricane Katrina relief are reporting that many young
children and their families are exhibiting significant needs for
mental health intervention.
The Gulf Coast Early Childhood Relief Project summarizes this
acute mental health challenge in an advisory, “Emergency and
Long-Term Mental Health Support for Families and Children
Affected by Hurricane Katrina.”
