National Association of Child Care Professionals Honors ECI
for Katrina Recovery
MARCH 27, 2006 | The
National Association of Child
Care Professionals (NACCP) has recognized the
Mississippi State University Early Childhood Institute (ECI) for
its role in Hurricane Katrina recovery for early childhood
programs.
“With support from organizations such as yours, temporary child
care services and respite care programs were provided, families
received food, clothing and personal care items, child care
centers were given needed supplies, materials and funds to open
their doors to the children of displaced families and children
received books and toys to replace some of those lost. The list
of the ways that caring organizations provided services and
supplies is endless and in many ways unique to each family.
Meeting the needs of families in crisis is worth honoring,”
Sherry Workman, executive director of NACCP, said.
“We appreciate this encouragement from the National Association
of Child Care Professionals. Many of its members have helped in
Katrina recovery through personal donations and donations from
their employees and the families they serve,” Cathy Grace, Ed.D.,
professor and director of ECI, said.
NACCP is an association of child care owners, directors, and
administrators. Its next annual meeting will be April 26-29 in
Atlanta.
