SPARK

Funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation through the Southern Regional Office of the Children's Defense Fund, MSU Extension Service provides a Train-the-Trainer approach utilizing our parent education programs, publications, and other resources to the sites. Sites are: Rankin County and Pearl School District; Bolivar School District; Cleveland School District, and Hollandale School District. All childcare centers, family daycare homes, and Head Start Centers are also involved in this research project. The Early Childhood Institute is providing staff to evaluate classrooms using the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale-Revised and the Arnett Caregiver Interaction Scale in child care programs and schools participating in the SPARK Program. Staff is also providing technical assistance to participating programs with the goal of improving classroom instruction to participating children.
