Head Start Professional Development Initiative

Funded by the Mississippi Head Start Association and the Day Foundation from 2000 to 2006, this initiative promoted the following objectives:

• Articulation of coursework from community colleges to universities
• Improvements of secondary curriculum
• Assistance to early childhood teachers and caregivers statewide as they continue their educations
• Expanded availability of child development coursework statewide
• Statewide dissemination of information about early childhood development academic programs statewide

Although funding for this initiative has expired, the Mississippi State University Early Childhood Institute will continue to support on-going articulation efforts within the field of early childhood education.
