The Mississippi Power Early Learning Program

Providing convenient access to high-quality professional development opportunities is a continual challenge in the early childhood sector of Mississippi, and Katrina’s disruption of jobs and homes exacerbated the problem. A three-year program that began in FY 2008, the Mississippi Power Early Learning Program provides a variety of workshops and on-site training and consultation for teachers and directors at centers that enroll in the program. The goal of the program is to help centers implement the Mississippi Early Learning Guidelines and to prepare to succeed in the Mississippi Child Care Quality Step System.

Cheryl Mueller, M.S., coordinates the Mississippi Power Early Learning Program.
